Municipal water is located approximately 400’ south of the site within the <br />west R/W of Old Crystal Bay Road. The water service consists of an 8 " line; <br />static ptressure is approximately 70 psi at elevation 1020 (MSL). To meet the <br />proposed arena ’s fire and domestic water needs, this line would be extended <br />north within the road R/W to near the midpoint (N-S) of the arena property. <br />A single 6" diameter water line would extend into the arena property to <br />supply both domestic and fire needs. Fire hydrant location on site would be <br />established after meeting with the Orono Fire Manhali. <br />Structural Systems <br />Exterior and interior foundation walls shall be concrete masonry reinforced <br />as required. Weight of foundation walls shall be supported on continuous <br />concrete fooungs located below frost depth on native soils or compacted <br />engineered fill as needed for bearing capacity. Spread pad footings shall be <br />used under piers at locations of high concentrated roof loads. <br />Concrete slabs placed on grade, including seating risers in bleacher area. <br />Exterior and interior bearing walls shall be rcinforceo concrete masonry. <br />Reinforced masonry pilasters shall be used to support loads at ends of joist <br />girders. <br />Arena roof shall have steel joist girders with bowstnng top chord spaced 24"- <br />8" on center and galvanized steel roof deck. Lobby and support spaces shall <br />have standard steel joists and galvanized steel roof deck spaced to support roof <br />and superimposed loads. <br />Mechanical Systems <br />Work in this Division shall comply with all applicable provisions of Division 0 <br />and Division 1. All work is to be performed by skilled craftsmen using only <br />new materials and equipment. The contractor shall guarantee the enure instal <br />lation for a period of one year after the final inspection’’ and acceptance of the <br />work by the owner. Repair or replacement of faulty equipment or materials <br />shall be provided by the conu-actor at no cost to the owner. All equipment, <br />materials, and work shall be in accordance with all applicable local, state, and <br />federal codes, and shall be approved by the local building official. <br />The most important element in an ice arena is the quality ot the ice surface. <br />The two major items required to provide a good quality ice surface is <br />equately sized refrigeration system and a good dehumidification system. These <br />two systems shall be sized to operate 12 months a year. <br />Minimum outdoor air quanuties. as required by ASHRAE Standards shall be <br />provided to maintain indoor air quality. All air delivery systems will te sized <br />for full economizer cooling with outdoor air and mechanical cooling.
