November 16, 1996
Mr Edward Callahan Jr.
Mayor
City of Orono
Box 66
Crystal Bay, MN 55323
* S • ’
Dear Mr. Callahan:
We would strongly urge the Orono City Council to reject Hennepin County’s proposal for
widening the road surface and paving the shoulders of Shoreline Drive between Green
Trees Road and Bracketts Point Road This is a project which over the years has
repeatedly been opposed by our neighborhood
While we recognize that safety is paramount, widening the road and paving the shoulders
will make the situation worse not better The curve now acts as a natural “policeman”
slowing down traffic to a reasonable speed A wider road and paved shoulders will result
in traffic moving faster, endangering pedestrians and fisherman crossing Shoreline Drive
by the Tanager Lake Bridge, Windward Maiina and the Minnetonka Boat Works Orono
Marina Faster traffic will also endanger those living along Shoreline Drive who must turn
in and out of their drivew ays and also put at risk the School Busses that stop in front of
our homes
We look forward to the Orono City Council ’s support on this important issue.
Sincerely Your Neighbors,
Robert and Iris Waade
1487 Shoreline Drive '
.,r; ^ V *.?((■ ('(.
Eric and Susan Beringause
1489 Shoreline Drive
I)
■'Vif
Janet Kiernan
1491 Shoreline Drive
