Following the Tenure Ceremony, the meeting was recessed and a
reception was held for the honored students and their families and
the newly tenured teachers.
Chairperson Van de Ven stated that at this time they would move to
New Business, Item 3, Highway 12 Development/Open Enrollment with
Mayor Tod Olson of Long Lake to address the Board. Mayor Olson
presented to the Board the current plan for the Highway 12 corridor
and stated that because the proposed highway eliminates current
housing and knowing that some families will not be able to relocate
within the School District, Mayor Olson requested that the Board
consider a priority or preference for these families with respect
to open enrollment status. Mayor Olson answered questions from the
Board for clarification purposes.
The Board of Education directed administration to research the
issue as presented by Mayor Tod Olson regarding open enrollment and
develop a recommendation for consideration by the Board of
Education.
The Board expressed appreciation to Mayor Olson for his
presentation.
UPON MOTION by Dick Lewis, seconded by John Maresh, the Board of
Education adopted the following Communications Plan as developed by
the Board^s Communication Committee and reviewed/revised by the
Board at recent workshop meetings.
ON FILE IN DISTRICT OFFICE
