The existing bridge over Willow Drive will be replaced with a bridge that
will .1 the railroad and the proposed highway.
7. The existing bridge over Old Crystal Bay Road will be replaced with a
bridge that will span the railroad and proposed highway.
8. Stubbs Bay road will be a cul-de-sac, eliminating the existing at-grade
railroad crossing at this location. There may be a need to provide a means
of allowing an emergency vehicle to cross at this location.
9. County State Aid Highway 6 (CR 6) is proposed to bridge over the railroad
and proposed highway, thereby, eliminating the existing at-grade crossing
at this location.
Other considerations that need to be addressed are:
1 . The replacement of drainage structures, city stormwater and sewer utilities
along the railroad corridor, and the design of the railroad and highway
drainage with the proposed depressed grades along the corridor could be
difficult depending on flowline elevations.
2. The closing of access at May Street and Watertown Road may lead to
people attempting to crossover the tracks and highway near those locations
because of past habits of being able to cross at these locations. The need to
provide a crossing either under or over the highway and railroad in this area
will be evaluated as part of Long Lakes request to provide access/trails for
' pedestrians and bicycles.
3. There is a long siding (second track) at the beginning of the project that
starts further east into Wayzata and ends just before the first bridge near the
Flemming Addition property and a small siding near Lake Street servicing
a lumber business. Issues may arise due to the separation of the railroad and
business by the proposed highway and the complications related to
construction and maintaining rail service.
4. The horizontal curve of the new segment of railroad between Old Crystal
Bay Road and Stubbs Bay crosses over the existing railroad and then ties
back into the existing railroad a short distance west of this crossover.
I;\PJLOKE*N\TH12BA\TH12JUL\RA1LROAD\LEROVMOU.WP
