A RESOLUTION OF PARTICIPATION IN THE METROPOLITAN LIVABLE <br />COMMUNITIES ACT LOCAL HOUSING INCENTIVE PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Livable Communities Act requires the Metropolitan <br />Council to negotiate with each municipality to establish affordable and life cycle housing goals <br />for that municipality, that are consistent with and promote the policies of the Metropolitan <br />Council, as provided in the adopted Metropolitan Development Guide; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono Community Management Plan includes the following <br />goals: <br />1. To improve the housing conditions of persons residing in substandard housing. <br />2. To provide safe, healthful and blight free residences and neighborhoods. <br />3 To provide opportunities for a mix of housing types, locations, and cost ranges <br />which will meet the needs and provide adequate housing for age and famUy <br />groups. <br />To provide housing types and residential densities consistent with environmental <br />and land use plans and with the availability of public services and facilities. <br />To provide immediately beneficial housing programs for the greatest number of <br />needy Orono residents. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Orono City Council that the City of <br />Orono does hereby elect to participate in the Metropolitan Livable Communities Act Local <br />Housing Incentives Program during calendar year 1996. <br />Adopted this 14th day of November, 1995. <br />4. <br />5. <br />ATTEST:Edward J.
