Meeting with MCWD Representatives Regarding Storm Water Ponding Requirements Continued <br />November 7, 1996 <br />a regional facility in another part of the watershed district that would not serve Orono ’s ponding <br />needs. <br />Cooperative Agreement Between the MCWD and the City <br />Although the MCWD’s variance process requires a cooperative agreement between the MCWD <br />and the city, such an agreement is not currently in place. The general concept of this agreement <br />is that it would identify regional ponding facilities that serve Orono ’s ponding and water quality <br />needs. It would also set out how the payments in lieu of ponds collected through the MCWD’s <br />variance process would be used to fund the regional ponding facilities. It was suggested at the <br />meeting that the MCWD and city of Orono work together during 1997 to develop a cooperative <br />agreement that meets the needs of both the city and the MCWD.
