PROPOSED RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE TRUNK HIGHWAY 12 <br />CORRIDOR PROPOSAL REPORT AND APPROVING THE TRUNK <br />HIGHWAY 12 CORRIDOR PROPOSAL <br />WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Transportation for the State of Minnesota has prepared <br />a Corridor Proposal Report for the improvement of Trunk Highway (TH) 12 within the city <br />limits; and <br />WHEREAS, said report contains a statement of need for this proposed improvement, a <br />description of alternate routes which were considered by the commissioner, an explanation of <br />the advantages and disadvantages in the selection of any route considered; and <br />WHEREAS, said report contains for each alternate, the following information: general <br />alignment and profile, approximate points of access, highway classification an approximate cost <br />estimate, relation to existing and planned regional and local development and to other <br />transportation routes and facilities, and a statement of the expected general effect on present and <br />future use of the property within the corridor; and <br />WHEREAS, after the presentation by iiU/DOT, members of the City Council and of the <br />public, were permitted to question and thoroughly investigate the implications of the TH 12 <br />Corridor Proposal, and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to recommend to the Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation the proposed corridor and to encourage Mn/DOT to pursue diligently a <br />preliminary design for said corridor. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orono <br />that: <br />Mn/DOT TH 12 Corridor Proposal Report dated October 4, 1996, a copy of which is <br />attached and incorporated herein by reference thereto, is approved and recommended to the <br />Minnesota Department of Transportation for development of layout plans. It is requested that <br />the Minnesota Department of Transportation use due diligence to expeditiously finalize the <br />design, seek and acquire funding and undertake construction on this corridor. <br />I ra *■ t 1
