August 26, 1996 <br />RE: Application for Planning Commission Member <br />City of Orono <br />William F. Miller <br />I have lived in Orono since June ofl991, and can’t imagine myself ever living anywhere <br />else. I live on lake Minnetonka, on Casco Point Road. I have a great affinity towards <br />w'ater and am constantly amazed at just how beautiful the lake is 1 consider the lake to be <br />a great natural resource and believe in its protection Since moving to Orono, I have had <br />a good deal of contact w ith the city, planning commission and the city council. <br />I have personally been through the process of requesting and ultimately eceiving two <br />variances. In addition, I uave been actively involved in the support ot two other variance <br />applications submitted by neighbors on Casco I am a very motivated individual and have <br />the time and energy required for this position. I am a strong believer of supporting the <br />community you live in. 1 would like the opportunity to give back a little of what I have <br />gotten from living in Orono. I also think that Casco Point needs some representation of <br />its own on the commission I would like to be that representative <br />Now that you know my reasons for wanting to be on the planning commission, let me tell <br />you a little about myself I am thirty frve, married, and have an eleven year old step-son <br />attending Grandview Middle School. I am a CPA, and work in Plymouth for a <br />Performance Marketing Company as their CFO 1 have an undergraduate degree from <br />California State University at Northridge, in Accounting and an MBA from the University <br />of Saint Thomas, in Management. I have extensive experience in the commercial building, <br />property management, financial, and retail industries I can read a blueprint and am very <br />comfortable reading and interpreting contracts, ordinances, etc. . <br />I think that I not only have the energy and time required to make this commitment to the <br />city, but the experience to make me good at doing what is required.
