I also understand there was <br />some concern about the appropriateness of this variance. Let me try to address your <br />concerns. <br />I sense a strong undercurrent of disapproval of the Albrechts for beginning the deck <br />construction without a building permit. If that is your thought, then you might conclude <br />that the Albrechts were trying to pull a fast one on the City of Orono. A response to that <br />would be to prevent the Albrechts from doing legally that which they tried to do illegally. <br />A natural response, surely. <br />From the Albrechts' side, they only moved to Orono in 1991. Previously they had <br />lived in Minneapolis and Seattle, Washington. He is from Seattle; she is from Denver. At <br />ED01888.-.75 1 <br />4
