To The Editor:
This letter is in response to the Orono man who wanted parking
tickets rescinded. I think this is absurd! (Does he think he
should have special privileges because he is a lawyer and an ex
council member)? As a hard working tax payer, I appreciate the
Orono police for doing the job that they were hired to do. If you
are illegally parked, no matter how many times you have done it in
the past you will eventually get caught. This man has gotten
caught and can't handle the results. When an event such as this is
held during school or in the summer time, I would think that a no
parking zone should be highly enforced to maintain the safety of
all attending. What if this man's son was injured on the field and
needed emergency services, and the emergency vehicles could not get
through in a timely manner? He v;ould probably be the first person
to take legal action against those illegally parked. But you can't
do this to yourself can you? Why should the Chief of Police have
to question the police officer when he was only doing his job? I
think as adults we all should be responsible for upholding the
laws. I would think that as a lawyer and ex council member, he
above all should know and uphold the laws for the State of
Minnesota. Couldn't he just as well walk across the street and
park in the additional parking?
cc: Chief of Police
:_•) ^n> riaT i C : u
Signed Marilynn L.
Spring Park
Vi-'
\\it
1
