TO: <br />FROM; <br />DATE: <br />Mayor and City Council <br />( ^ <br />Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br />Julv 19, 1996 <br />SUBJECT: Community Policing Effort for Long Lake’s Dexter Drive Neighborhood <br />The Orono Police Department is working with the city of Long Lake to plan a community <br />policing effort to address problems related to the Dexter Drive neighborhood, an area of multi­ <br />family housing in Long Lake. The neighborhood is experiencing and generating problems <br />ranging from child abuse to vandalism. The solutions to these problems require efforts and <br />resources beyond simply continuing to respond to incidents. They require bringing together a <br />broad range of stakeholders and resources to identify problems, needs, and solutions and the <br />resources required to meet the needs and provide solutions. The community policing effort will <br />attempt to bring together the residents of the area, the city of Long Lake, Hennepin County <br />Social Services, the resident managers and property managers of the multi-family housing, <br />representatives of St. Georges Church, representatives of the School District, and any other <br />stakeholders or resources that are identified in the process.
