ORONO Cirv' COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR MARCH 11,1996 <br />COUMc*.h STWq <br />ROLL <br />The Council met on the above mentioned date with the following members present. <br />Council Members Gabriel Jabbour, J. Diann Goetten, Charles Kelley, and JoEUen Hurr, <br />who arrived at approximately 8:30 p m. Mayor Callahan was absent. Representing Staff <br />were City Administrator Ron Moorse, City Attorney Tom Barrett, Building and Zoning <br />Administrator Jeanne Mabusth, Public Works Director John Gerhardson, and Recorder <br />Sherry Frost. Acting Mayor Jabbour called the meeting to order at 7.00 p m <br />(#1) allocation of CDBG funds - PUBLIC HEARING 7:01-7:08 P.M. <br />RESOA.UTION #3687 <br />The Affidavit of Publication .vas noted. <br />Moorse reported that the public hearing was scheduled to allow for comments regarding <br />the allocation of the CDBG funds. The City will receive $22,000 for uses as outlined in <br />the agenda packet. <br />Kiki Sonnea representative of WeCan Operations, said their organization appreciates the <br />contributions made by the City of Orono. Their organization is asking tor $1. >00, th^e <br />same amount as in 1995 Sonnen reported on the amount of tamiliea that have benefited <br />from their program including those who reside in Orono The organization's newsletter <br />was distributed, which shows the demographics of those who have been served by <br />WeCan Sonnen also noted that their organization has joined forces with Interfaith <br />Outreach in services for Job programs. <br />Jabbour related that the City has agreed to contribute $1,500 to WeCan in 1996. <br />Gerhardson reported that he had heard from Interfaith Outreach today, and they would <br />like to be included in the grant program. Jabbour asked it this can be included in the <br />budget and reallocated. Gerhardson said it could. Goetten had commented that she <br />asked Interfaith's director to contact Gerhardson Moorse noted that if Interfaith was <br />included in the grant distribution, each of the eligible organizations would receive $1,466, <br />The following will receive a portion of the allocated monies from the CDBG Fund. <br />WeCan Operations <br />Westonka Intervention <br />Intertaith Outreach Community Partners <br />Rehabilitation of Private Property - Single Family <br />$ 1,466 <br />1,466 <br />1,466 <br />17,779 <br />Kelley moved, Goetten seconded, to adopt Resolution #3687 approving the following <br />projects for funding in the 1996 CDBG program; WeCan $1,466, Westonka Intervention <br />$1,466, Interfaith Outreach Community Partners $1,466, and Rehabilitation of Private <br />Property-Single Family $17,779. Vote; Ayes 3, Nays 0
