\
<3«--
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
DATE: February 22,
ITEM NO.: ^
\
Department Approval:
Name Jeanne A. Mabusth
Title Building & Zoning Administrator
Administrator Reviewed:Agenda Section:
Zonins:
Item Description: Louis Oberhauser, 2405 Dunwoody Avenue, 3865/3877 Shoreline Drive - Status
Report on the Removal of Hazardous Structures
At the Februaiy 12, 1996 meeting of the Council. Council directed the City Attorney to consider all
options available to the City regarding the removal of the hazardous buildings (two boarded up
residence structures) on the Oberhauser property. On February lath I received a call from Lou
Oberhauser's secretarv' informing me that the boarded up structures were to be burned the following
Saturday. February 17th. She advised that Oberhauser was still out of town and that she would be
contacting utility companies to have lines cut along with the removal of the gas and electrical meters.
Staff asked that she draft a letter to confirm these arrangements. I received a second call the same
day advising that the utility companies cc-ild not complete required cut offs to permit the bum on
the following Saturday as a two week lea ine would be required.
The fire chief has reconfirmed that the bum would take place on Saturday, March 2nd. Staff can
also confirm that Minnegasco has been in contact with the building staff on February' 15th advising
that they would begin the process of the removal of meters and the cutting of lines. The enclosed
letter from Mr. Oberhauser ’s fimi confirms these facts. (The letter was drafted by Mr. Oberhauser's
secretary and proofed by Jack Neveaux, Oberhauser ’s business associate and/or partner.)
If the burn is completed on March 2nd, staff seeks pemiission to reschedule the Oberhauser
preliminary subdiv ision application before the Council at their March 11. 19% meeting. Please note
that final subdiv ision approval will be delayed until the remaining residence structure and detached
garage are removed.
