Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />Dear Mr. Moorse. <br />Enclosed within for your information and review is a copy of the proposed “1998 Long <br />Lake Volunteer Fire Department Budget." The total cost of operation projected for <br />1998 is $156,501. This is a 3.96% increase from the operating budget of 1997. Your <br />cost share based upon the contract plan is $109,316, or a 5.53% increase for the City <br />of Orono. <br />Also, enclosed is a copy of the breakdown of the number of calls (In hours), the <br />assessed market value of each of the respective communities and the total percentage <br />of the 1998 budget broken down by each of the respective communities. For your <br />information, the assessed market value of Orono, was 18% higher for 1997 than the <br />numbers used for 1996 and the total for the three year period for service calls was up <br />almost 17%, (16.63%). <br />The City of Long Lake and the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department believes that we <br />have put together a reasonable and justifiably budget. We have held the increase in <br />costs for the proposed operating year to less than the four percent allowed by contract. <br />The City of Long Lake and the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department would like to <br />invite you to attend a meeting on August 15,1997, at 8:00 a.m. in the Council <br />Chambers at Long Lake City Hall. The purpose of this meeting would be to answer <br />questions and concerns that you may have about the operation of the Fire Department <br />as well as explain the budget.
