L <br />06-17-1997 10:46 612 473 7033 LnCD P.03 <br />LAKE MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />Gray Freshwater Center, 2500 Shadywood Rd., Suite 19 <br />471-9588, FAX 471-0632 <br />NEWS RELEASE <br />June 16,1997 Contact; Gene Strommen <br />Project Manager <br />Greg Nybeck <br />Executive Director <br />SUBJECT: Public Access Limited Use Due to Herbicide Treatment for Milfoil <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />Some public accesses on Lake Minnetonka will be subject to a 24 hour limited use <br />restriction to assist in the effectiveness of herbicide treatment scheduled in June. <br />Herbicide will be applied to certain public accesses to control the growth of Eurasian <br />watermilfoil as allowed by a MN Department of Natural Resources Permit. <br />The first access treatments arc scheduled to start at 7:00 am, Monday, June 23, at <br />the following accesses: 1) County Highway 16, Wayzata Bay; 2) County Highway 51, <br />North Arm Bay; 3) County Highway 125, Mounds Park, Cooks Bay, and 4) Tuxedo <br />Blvd, Zimmerman Pass, Phelps Bay. <br />The second access treatments are scheduled to start at 7:00 am, Monday, June 30, <br />at the following accesses: 1) County Highway 101, Causeway, Grays Bay; 2) County <br />Highway 51, DNR Access, Maxwell Bay, and 3) County Ffighway 15, Spring Park Bay. <br />An alternate public access will be about a mile away from the access scheduled for <br />treatment for public convenience. The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District expresses <br />its appreciation to boaters for their cooperation during these two groups of public access <br />treatment.
