A sergeant with the Orono Police department is expected to do the following: <br />-Review reports and assign follow-up as needed <br />-Determine shift schedules and changes <br />-Review training needs <br />-Supervise shift patrol functions <br />-Determine on-scene investigative needs <br />-Determine over time usage <br />-Determine equipment usage <br />-Supervise and determine patrol usage and special projects <br />-Evaluate personnel under his control <br />-Supervise internal investigations and recommend discipline <br />-Maintain equipment (squads, safety equip., etc.) <br />-Other tasks as assigned or needed <br />The sergeant is expected to demonstrate leadership through example and to be able <br />to motivate personnel through team-building skills. Excellent communication skills <br />are necessary for both internal intersections as well as serving our citizen <br />customers. The successful sergeant will need to be loyal to the values of the <br />department. <br />MISSION STATEMENT: <br />The Orono Police Department, through teamwork and cooperation, will be <br />responsive to our citizens' needs with a professional level of dedicated <br />service. Officers will display the liighest integrity, and regard each citizen <br />with a focused and unbiased attitude. Our citizens will determine our <br />success.
