Staff is working with the telecommunications consultant, the City Attorney, and the telecommunications providers to finalize a lease agreement for the use of the water tower space. A key element of the lease agreement is the lease rate for space on the water towers. Staff has surveyed other cities regarding lease rates and has found rates generally ranging from $10,000 per year to $14,500 per year. Examples include Spring Park at $10,000 per year, Medina at $12,000 per year, and Mmnetrista at $14,500 per year. The city's telecommunications consultant has indicated lease rates around the Metro area are generally in the range of $10,000- 12,000 per year. Although there are examples of rates at the $ 14,500 and above. It is staffs recommendation that the lease rate for locating PCS and ESMR antennas on the city’s water tower be set at $14,500 per year. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to approve the lease rate of $14,500 per year for PCS and ESMR antennas located on the city’s water towers.
