CITY OF
LONG LAKE
May 9,1997
received
MW 1 3 W7
C\TY of orono
Ron Moorse
City Administrator
City of Orono
P.O. Box 66
Crystal Bay, MN
Dear Ron,
This is a follow up to the Fire meeting that was held on May 9,1997 at the Orono City Hall.
As a part of the agreement to proceed with the purchase of two vehicles in 1997,1 stated I
would supply the contracting cities with an update of the cost shares of the vehicles. Please
find this information enclosed. These cost shares are based upon the con.ract language,
estimated total vehicle costs of S100,000 and both vehicles being purchased in 1997.
At that meeting we indicated that we would like to purchase one vehicle and outfit it so
that it is operational by August of this year. In order to accomplish this goal, we would
need to have your Council approve these purchases and obtain funding soon. I informed
Councilmember Kelly that I, and the members of the Fire Department, would be more
than happy to attend a City Council meeting to review this information and answer
questions. If you would like us to attend a meeting, please let me know so I can make
arrangements with the Fire Department.
Also, as a part of that meeting we agreed to do and make several other things happen. I
would like to summarize those here and have you or Mr. Kelly confirm them. They are:
• Refine the Capital Improvement Plan for the Fire Department to better determine when
vehicles will need to be replaced, projected costs(including inflation) and a schedule for
replacement in a five year period
• Respectfully request information from each cf the contracting cities on the amount of
money set aside by each for funding Major Equipment purchases
1964 Park Avenue • Long Lake, Minnesota 55356 • 612-473-6961 612-476-9622 (fax)
