Wetlands. <br />STAFF & PC RECOMMENDATION: Accept sectional weir solution to Mr. Kruger's <br />concerns (document this within the developer's agreement). Approve wetland variances and <br />mitigation subject to the recommendations in item IIl-B above. <br />3. Water Quality. <br />STAFF & PC RECOMMENDATION: Withhold approval of the water quality plans <br />pending recommendations from the City Engineer, addressing his concerns about the total <br />reliance on NURP ponds for water quality management and the potential use of managed <br />vegetative buffer strips to deal with nutrients in golf course runoff that are soluble and may <br />tend to not settle out but be discharged. Approval by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed <br />District will also be required. Subject to adherence to submitted turf management <br />program.''Ti->‘'' <br />CITY ENGINEER ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS 5/6/97: In his May 6 letter, <br />Anthony DeMars of Bonestroo has made a number of recommendations regarding water <br />quality: <br />- Use low-maintcnance turgrasses to reduce fertilizer & pesticide needs <br />- Maintain wetland buffers (he notes applicant should identify what plants will be used <br />in the buffer strips) <br />Avoid putting green underdrain discharge directly to wetlands <br />He also has indicated aditional locations where silt fence should be added during <br />construction. <br />4.
