Hennepin County
An Equal Opportunity Employer
April 23, 1997
Greg Gappa
Public Service Director
City of Orono
2750 Kelley Parkway
PO Box 66
Crystal Bay, MN 55323
received
APR 2 4 1997
C\TY OF ORONO
Re: Spring Hill Golf Course Access, CSAH 6
Greg:
As we discussed, Hennepin County, with city support, will require the
provision of an auxiliary lane for westbound traffic at the CSAH 6/Hunter
Drive/Spring Hill Road East intersection. The golf course engineer
should make a recommendation of what type of lane is most feasible
(painted left turn or combination by-pass/right turn) depending on right
of way availability, drainage, geometries, traffic counts, etc. The goal
is to accommodate westbound left turns with minimal impact to the current
CSAH 6 traffic, which exceeds the 5000 ADT threshold for auxiliary lane
installation by developers. An entrance permit will be required for this
activity.
A provision of this permit will be the removal of all current entrances
to the site (approximately four "field driveways") including the old
Conference Center access.
Thanks for your cooperation and concern in this matter, and please call
with any questions or discussion.
Sincerely,
David K.
