r- April 7,1997 To: Park Commission Members From: Greg Gappa, Public Services Director ^ ^ Subject: Antoine Park Playground Equipment Costs We have received quotations and an equipment layout for Landscape Structures Equipment to be installed by Earl F. Anderson Inc. This plan is the result of ideas from both tlie neighbor hood group and the Park Commission. This layout idea was previously approved b} the Park Commission to be located along the Fagemess Point street area of the park. TTiis location was selected to s ’.ow for continued use of the level area, in front of the park buildings, for other purposes. The Park Commission has had previous positive experiences with Landscape Structures Equipment installed in Crystal Bay Park. This is high quality equipment and both the Public Works Department and the Commission has been very satisfied with this equipment. For comparison purposes, a price quotation was obtained for another brand of equipment, Columbia Cascade Equipment installed by Park and Plaza Inc. Landscape Structures Equipment $23,166 Columbia Cascade Equipment $25,062 Based on the price quotes received and past satisfaction with Landscape Structures equipment, the staff recommendation is for the purchase and installation of Landscape Structures Equipment from Earl F. Anderson Inc., Bloomington Minnesota. Site grading will be required for installation of this equipment. Site grading will be completed by Schoening Excavating of Maple Plain. This firm was the low bidder in the City's annual bidding process for equipment rental and provision of construction materials, and is utilized for various small construction projects throughout the year. Pea Gravel Surfacing in the playground area will be installed by the public works department. A bituminous surface handicapped access path also needs to be installed with additional rubber surfacing on a concrete base for handicapped access to the playground equipment.
