The purpose of this action item is to award the Tonkawa-Partenwood Forcemain <br />Replacement Project. <br /> <br />2. Background. In January of 2022 Council approved the design of the Tonkawa Force Main <br />replacement project. During the design process we determined a large portion of the initial projected area <br />did not need to be replaced. This provides a funding opportunity to incorporate the adjoining Partenwood <br />force main into the replacement project without increasing the overall construction budget. This is <br />especially timely as Partenwood road is slated for pavement replacement in 2024. Completing the force <br />main replacement in 2023 will ensure the new pavement in 2024 will not be impacted. In June the council <br />approved the change in scope of the project. The design was amended and bids have been received. <br /> <br />3. Scope. The project includes the replacement of 1630 feet of Sanitary Forcemain along Tonkawa <br />Road and 1500 feet of forcemain along Partenwood Road. (Exhibit A) <br /> <br />4. Cost. The city received proposals from 4 contractors (Exhibit B). The low quote was for $ 738,847.00 <br />from Bituminous Roadways. In addition to the construction cost, Bolton and Menk provided a proposal <br />of NTE $102,500.00 for construction oversight. Funding. The forcemain replacement project will be funded by a combination of the sanitary sewer <br />fund and ARPA funding. The projected 2023 year-end balance for the Sewer Fund is $1,176,080. <br /> <br />6. Staff Recommendation. I recommend council award the project. <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to award the Tonkawa-Partenwood Forcemain Replacement Project to Bituminous Roadways Inc. <br />for $ 738,847.00 and to authorize Bolton and Menk to perform design and construction oversight for a fee <br />not to exceed $102,500. <br /> <br />Exhibits <br />A.
