The purpose of this action item is to award the contract for the 2023 Street Maintenance <br />Project (23-001). <br /> <br />2. Background. At the April 10th, 2022 Council Work Session, the Council provided direction for 2023 <br />street projects. The streets identified for 2023 are Fox Street (Brown to Orono Orchard) and Townline <br />Road. Townline Road is being resurfaced as a joint project with Independence and Medina. Staff <br />received bids for the Fox street project on May 3rd. <br /> <br />3. Scope of Work. The project consists of the reclamation and mill and overlay of the bituminous <br />pavement, select subgrade corrections, and the replacement / improvement of the associated stormwater <br />systems for Fox Street between Orono Orchard Road and Brown Road. <br /> <br />4. Cost. The city received seven bids. The Bid Summary is at Exhibit A. The low bid for $268,261 is <br />from Bituminous Roadways. In addition to the construction cost, Bolton and Menk provided a proposal of <br />NTE $35,000 for construction oversight. Funding. Staff Recommendation. I recommend award of the bid to Bituminous Roadways in the amount of <br />$268,261 and approval of the proposal form Bolton and Menk for construction services. Note the cost <br />associated with this project are significantly less that projected. During the design process the <br />geotechnical analysis eliminated the need for the light weight fill we had thought would be required for <br />the project. <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to award the 2023 Streets project to Bituminous Roadways for $268,261 and to authorize Bolton <br />& Menk to perform construction oversite for a fee not to exceed $35,000. <br /> <br />Reference <br />A.
