The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />• Interacts with citizens in a professional manner when informing them of a disruption of <br />utility service or breakdown. <br />• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and <br />checking equipment and tools after use. <br />• Drives trucks and operates equipment of various sizes and weights in loading, hauling <br />and unloading various equipment or materials. May operate any of the following <br />equipment: Backhoe, loader, bobcat, excavators, street sweeper, bucket truck and <br />snowplow equipment <br />• Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and <br />refers defects or needed repairs to appropriate personnel; cleans equipment. <br />• May adjust, lubricate, or make small repairs to equipment using <br />• Performs all duties in accordance with appropriate safety and security standards. <br />• Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br />Knowledge: <br />• Building and Construction — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in <br />the construction or repair of structures such as highways and roads. <br />• Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, <br />and maintenance. Including knowledge of occupational hazards and established safety <br />procedures. <br /> <br />Skills: <br />• Operation and Control — Control operations of equipment or systems. <br />• Operation Monitoring — Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine <br />is working properly. <br />• Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to <br />understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at <br />inappropriate times. <br />• Equipment Maintenance — Perform routine maintenance check fluids performs <br />inspections prior and after use. <br />• Monitoring — Monitor/Assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or <br />organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. <br /> <br />Abilities: <br />• Control Precision — Able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a <br />vehicle to exact positions. <br />• Multi limb Coordination — Able to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two <br />arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not <br />involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion. <br />• Arm-Hand Steadiness — Able to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm <br />or while holding your arm and hand in one position. <br />• Manual Dexterity — Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, <br />or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. <br />• Near Vision — Able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
