COUNCIL MBETINQ <br />NOV 2 2 t999iREQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />DATE; November 19,1999 <br />ITEM NO: <br />Department Approval:Administrator Reviewed:Agenda Section: <br />Name Ron Moorse City Administrator's <br />Title City Administrator Report <br />Item Description: Renewal of Contract for Prosecution Services <br />In 1997, the City conducted an RFP process to select a prosecuting attorney. Based on that process, <br />the City selected Ken Potts to provide prosecuting attorney services, and entered into a two-year <br />agreement with him. This agreement expires on December 31,1999. Over the past two years, Ken <br />Potts has provided very good prosecution services at a very reasonable cost. He has indicated he is <br />interested in continuing as prosecuting attorney for the City. <br />In 1999, Mr. Potts provided prosecution services for a flat fee of $27,500.00. Mr. Potts has proposed <br />an increase of $ 100.00 per month, for a total annual cost of $28,700.00 for the year 2000. TTiis is <br />a total increase of $1,200.00 or 4.4%. <br />Staff recommends renewal of the contract with Ken Potts for prosecution services for the year 2000 <br />at a cost of $28,700.00. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to approve the renewal of the contract with Ken Potts for prosecution services for the year <br />2000 at a cost of $28,700.00, and to authorize the City Administrator to sign the renewal agreement.
