LAND USE GOALS AND POLICIES <br />Orono's Land Use Plan is based upon the following goals and policies which in turn <br />have been actively de eloped and fostered by Orono residents over the last 25 years. <br />LAND USE GOALS <br />1. <br />2. <br />To reinforce Orono's environmental protection commitment. <br />To maintain the historic identitv ’ and character of the separate urban <br />and rural neighborhoods. <br />3.To provide appropriate places for a variety of local residential, <br />educational, recreational, industrial and neighborhood commercial <br />activities. <br />4. <br />5. <br />6. <br />To protect neighborhoods from encroachment of incompatible land uses. <br />To coordinate Orono's land uses with that of neighboring communities. <br />To coordinate land uses and developed density with the financial and <br />physical capabilities of the City and its citizens to provide the necessary <br />public facilities and services. <br />GENERAL LAND USE POLICIES <br />1.The Metropolitan The boundary ’ between Orono's Urban and Rural <br />Service Areas (MUSA) is fixed. Orono ’s Urban Service Area will not be <br />strictly defined bv the Metropolitan Urban Service Area (MUSA) boundary <br />or future expansions of the MUSA boundary and Sewer Service Area (MSSR) <br />are but will be fixed by this and the other elements of the Community <br />Management Plan and are is legally described by resolution of the City <br />Council as shown on Map No.__. <br />liL The Metropolitan Urban Service Area fMUSAI will define the areas of <br />Orono where municipal sewers mav be extended. The MUSA will include <br />all parts of Orono's Urban Service Area and mav include parts of Orono ’s <br />Rural Service Area where appropriate. <br />CMP3B- 14
