They were prepared to meet your stated desire objectives to restore
the lakeshore to wooded, natural appearing landscape in as short of time as oossible. These parameters
were developed at your request and are based on on-site observations and measurements made June 9,
1999 and June 14,1999.
Observations and Background
The April 19,1999 survey {Coffin & Gronberg. Inc) of the property identified a total of 16 trees with stump
diameters of 12 inches or greater that were removed from the rear (lake side) of the residence On-site
investigations identified an American linden stump (21 inch diameter) located 32.5 feet northeast of the
northeast corner of the Luzaich residence that was not indicated on the survey Species composition of
canopy trees was as follows: 47% sugar mapie (Acer saccharum). 47% Anrierican linden (Tillia americana)
and 6% northern red oak (Quercus rubra) Understory trees included sapling and seedlings of these
species as well as ironwood (Osfrya virginiana) and American elm (Ulmus americana).
The trees removed v;erc ^ remnant of a mature sugar maple - basswood forest The height of remaining
trees on adjacent properties to the are 80 to 85 feet
Tree diameters at 4 5 feet above the ground (DBH) were estimated based oi measurements of stump
height and diameters. An estimated 6,950 in^ of cross-sectional area of trees were removed. The total
value of the trees removed was estimated to be $48,100 using methods es'^atlished by the Council of
Landscape Appraisers (1992) and the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture Plant Appraisal Committee
Plant Healtli Care Mariiigemem ■ Trei?
