Request for Council Action continued <br />Page 4 <br />September 8, 1999 <br />Public Works Land Expansion Options i <br />Funding <br />On a short-term basis, the funding for the acquisition of additional Public Works land could be <br />provided from the General Fund reserves or from the Building Fund. On a medium-term basis, the <br />short-term funding source could be reimbursed at the time the City sells the 2-acre parcel at the <br />comer of Highway 12 and Old Crystal Bay Road. <br />StafT Recommendation <br />Staffs recommended options in order of preference are as follows: <br />1 . Purchase the 3.4 acres from the Orono Plaza Partnership, <br />2.Purchase land from the School District. <br />3. Fill the existing wetland adjacent to the Public Works yard. <br />Staff recommends pursuing both Options 1 and 2 by contacting the property owners to determine <br />the potential acquisition costs, and to determine whether the property owners would consider selling <br />the land to the City. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to direct staff to further pursue Options 1 and 2, and to report staffs findings to the Council.i
