9-» *
Request for Council Action continued
Page 3
September 8, 1999
Public Works Land Expansion Options
B Secure vehicular access.
C.
D
E.
This option would provide an additional 2 acres of useable yard area that
would enable a brush site and a compost site.
Activities would be screened from adjacent properties.
There would be no cost for land acquisition.
Disadvantages:
I
B
This option would require the filling of wetlands. The wetland filling would
need to be mitigated by the creation of new wetlands on land owned by the
City.
This option would not provide land for future Public Works needs beyond the
brush site and compost site.
Use City-owned land adjacent to McCulley Road for a brush disposal site and leaf
compost site.
Advantages:
A. No land acquisition costs.
B. Provides sufficient land for a brush site and leaf compost site.
Disadvantages:
A. This site would be remote from the current Public Works facility, making it
less convenient and less efficient to use.
B It would be difficult to maintain the security of the property. The site would
have to be at least partially fenced and gated. The City would have to
provide a staff person to monitor the site whenever the gate was open. Even
with a fenced area, the site would likely experience unlawful dumping.
