COMMUNITIES IN COLLABORATION COUNCIL 1999-2000 GOALS MISSION: Promote collaborative planning and development among all ^pects of the community to build assets* for our youth and families. * Assets are defined as the 40 developmental assets established by the Search Institute of Minneapoiis, activity, possession or use of a weapon). Goal ClCC will solicit applicants for Local Collaborative Time Study grants, review grant proposals and approve dissemination of remaining "rant money. Asset Focus All 40 assets ClCC will sponsor a Train the Trainer conference to: 1. ) Provide community members with information about asset development and 2. ) equip them with specific id^ and methods to increase the assets among the youth with whom they work or relate. All 40 assets Action A minimum of 5 community groups or organizations wnll submit grant proposals which focus on Learning & Family Support Systems. Physical & Mental Health Services, Violence Prevention/Community Safety or Asset Building in Youth. 1. ) ISO people representing all areas of the community (schools, faith communities, parents, businesses, government, etc.) will attend the conference. 2. ) Each attendee of the conference will, in turn, conduct at least one asset building training session for the community or organization that he/she represents._____ Outcome After one year, each grantee demonstrates specific outcomes that show progress towards their stated goal. There is a increased knowledge base for asset development within the community measured by the actual number of conference participants and by the number of community residents they, in turn, train in asset development. ClCC will cosponsor the Parenting Forum and the Parenting with Vision series that will address a wide variety of parenting issues. All 40 assets SOO parents from the Wayzata School District will attend the Saturday morning Parenting Forum and an average of 200 parents will attend each single*speaker lecture in the Parenting with Vision series. Parents are equipped with specific models to decrease high-risk behavior patterns and an increase the assets of the youth in the Wayzata School district ClCC wiU publish a ncwslctter/events calendar focused on community activities for families 8 times in 1999-2000 school year. ClCC will secure funding for $13,920 (from cities, other supporting members and grants) for general operating support and approx. $20,000 for special program support (newsletter, F--renting with Vision and Parenting Forum) Asset #7: Young people perceive that community adults value youth. Asset #8; Young people are given useful roles in the community. Asset #9; Young person serves in the community 1 hr or more per week. All 40 assets 8.000 families within the ClCC service area will receive the newsletter. Participation in fiunily- related community activities increases. ClCC will submit grant requests to each city and organization represented by ClCC for general operating support. ClCC will submit grant proposals to specific funders for program support. ClCC’s initiatives result in the decrease of high-risk behavior among the youth of the Wayzata School District as shown through the results of the Minnesota Survey and Search Institute Survey.
