In those ten years we have noticed a dramatic increase in traffic on both County
Road 6 and Townline Road. To our great disappointment. County Road 6 has now been turned
into Highway 6. Despite the fact that the posted speed limit is 40 mph.
This is also the case with Townline Road. People have continued to drive up and down
Townline at Increasing rr 'es of speed. Since Townline is basically not maintained this makes
traversing that road even more dangerous. Particularly to those of us who drive at reasonable
speeds.
Additionally, I have literally lost count of the number of times I have seen my life passing before
me because of another driver’s Illegal reckless driving on Townline Road. Either coming head-
on at me, or nearly rear-ending me. I have also been harassed by drivers who insist on
speeding as they use Townline as a shortcut to their destination.
We have observed that since our property is at the intersection of Orono, Independence and
Maple Plain that no city is willing to police traffic speeds. Consequently, we view the closing of
Townline Road as a way to artificially keep people from speeding up and down Townline Road.
We hope Townline Road is closed permanently. Although we use Townline regularly to drive up
to Maple Plain and to access Highway 12, we would happily go the long way around.
Sincerely,____
Barbara Le
s:\legal\usrtxf\mitcMovy1ine.doc 07/02/99
