.#
CITY OF
MmiM
2052 County Road 24, Medina, MN 55340
. tt >' -•! U nS99
June 4, 1999
Ron Morse
City of Orono
P.O. Box 66
Crystal Bay, MN 55323-0066
Dear Ron:
At a joint work session between Medina's City Council and Planning Commission
they discussed Medina's Comprehensive Plan. At that meeting they requested
that I ask the City of Orono about an issue concerning a request for additional
sewer units.
A couple weeks ago we spoke about this portion of Medina's Comprehensive
Plan that proposes providing sewer to the property south of the area known as
Medina Morningside. Currently, the City has an agreement with the cities of
Long Lake and Orono for 82 sewer units to serve this area. Medina is currently
using 80 of those units.
The pr<"certy owner to the south of Medina Morningside, where the sewer lift
station is located, would like to develop his property. The city is willing to
accommodate this request as long as it can provide for the additional sewer
through the City of Orono. Medina is proposing to zone this area as Suburban
Residential(as shown on the map provided). This zoning has a minimum lot size
requirement of 30,000 sq. ft. This would accommodate no more the 14 units on
the Keller Property(and include an additional 3 units in case the three properties
to the west of the Keller property need to be bailed out in the future). It is
Medina's understanding that when State Highway 12 is reconstructed the
Metropolitan Council will probably build an interceptor along It. At that time
Medina would like access through Orono to fulfill this request.
Medina's Comprehensive Plan Is In the last stages of development. At this time
we would like Orono initial impression concerning this request.
ncerely, )
[obinson
City Clerk-Treasurer
cc; Loren Kohnen
Administration • Planning and Zoning • Public Works
Phone: 473-4643 • Fax: 473-9359
Public Safety
Phone: 473-9209 • Fax: 473-6939
