Transmitted herewith is a copy of the bid tabulation for your information and file. A copy will also be dishibuted to the bidder. There was a total of 1 bid. The following summarizes the results of the 1 bid received. Contractor Low G L Contracting, Inc. Baxe Bid Amount Alternate Bid Amount $252,962.00 $161,987.80 The low bidder on the project was G L Contracting, Inc. with a base bid amount of $252,962.00. The base bid included work to install a ^avity sewer system in front of the homes in Edgewood Hills Road. The alternate bid was for the installation of a pressure sewer system to serve the neighborhood. The base bid exceeded our engineers estimate of $170,000 by nearly 50%. A meefing with the residents indicated that they were not in favor of a pressure sewer system. The residents want gravity sewer but the base bid resulted in an excessive assessment per unit. As a result, we have worked with the contractor and the residents to come up with a value engineered design to provide gravity sewer to all residents. The resultant design is an alignment located behind the homes away from the roadway. The total construction cost for this value engineered design is $158,620.10, a savings of $94,341.90 from the base bid. The bid has been reviewed and found in order.
