I <br />I <br />I <br />- <br />CHAPTER 6 <br />STREETS AND PRIVATE ROADS <br />(THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS PROVISIONS AS TO <br />DEFINITIONS, APPLICATION AND SCOPE RELATING TO <br />CHAPTERS 7 AND 8 AS NELL AS THIS CHAPTER) <br />SECTION 6.01. DEFINITIONS. <br />Subd. 1. Except as otherwise defined in the City Code, <br />or where the context clearly indictes a contrary intent, the words <br />and terms defined in Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 169, shall be <br />applicable to the City Code, Chapters 6, 7 and 8. The following <br />words and terms, when used in this Ordinance, shall have the <br />following meanings, unless the context indicates otherwise: <br />A. "Corner" means the point of intersection of the <br />extension of lines of two public or private curb faces. <br />B. "Curb Cut" means the opening along a street curb <br />line or pavement edge for the purpose of motor vehicle ingress and <br />egress from a roadway. Curb cut width shall include the width of <br />the driveway approach and of the curb returns, if any. <br />C. "Curb Return" means that portion of a curb next <br />to a driveway approach which includes the radius or curvature or <br />the ramp-type lug on commercial or industrial type pavements and <br />which connects the driveway approach to the public or private road <br />curb. <br />D. "Driveway" means a paved or otherwise delineated <br />area on private property for the operation of automobiles and other <br />vehicles, f <br />E. "Driveway Approach" means a paved or otherwise <br />delineated' area, on the right-of-way between the roadway of a <br />public or private road and private property, intended to provide <br />ingress and egress for vehicles from a private or public road to <br />private property. A driveway approach must provide access to a <br />parking area, a driveway, a door intended and used for the entrance <br />of vehicles, or other similar structure or facility. Driveway <br />approaches shall be of two classes: a) resident driveway <br />approaches;^and b) business driveway approaches. <br />—F. "Business Driveway Approach" means a driveway <br />approach rrom any public right-of-way providing motor vehicles with <br />ingress and egress from the public or private road to any property <br />other than a single family dwelling. <br />G. "Resident Driveway Approach" means a driveway <br />approach from any public or private right-of-way providing ingress <br />and egress for motor vehicles from the public or private road to a <br />single family residential dwelling. <br />ORONO CC 140 (7-25-88) <br />E
