<br />Item Description: 1998 General and Special Revenue Funds Budget Amendments
<br />General Fund Budget Amendments
<br />The total General Fund revenues for 1998 are $3,863,345, compared to the total
<br />expenditures of $3,710,359. Total revenues exceeded total expenditures by $152,986.
<br />The year-end revenue for the General Fund is $3,863,345, compared to the budget of
<br />$3,638,095, a favorable variance of $225,250. The variance is due in part to two revenue
<br />sources which were included in the original budget, but due to unusual circumstances are
<br />significantly higher than normal. Those items include the previously approved budget
<br />amendment for contract animal control services of $26,000; and police special service
<br />security revenues, $67,000. After the amendment the General Fund revenue budget will
<br />be $3,731,095, and the actual revenue will exceed the amended budget by $132,250.
<br />The General Fund operating expenditures at year end are $3,710,359, compared to the
<br />budget of $3,638,095, or $72,264 over budget. The majority of the items causing the
<br />expenditure overages were specifically approved by the City Council, and/or were offset
<br />by revenues in excess of budgeted amounts.
<br />The following is a listing of those departments which require budget amendments due to
<br />expenditures exceeding budgeted amounts, and those departments with expenditures
<br />significantly below budgeted amounts.
