After removal of the concrete, it was found that a six>inch deep void was present from the bottom of the concrete to the sand fill below. Four one-inch diameter holes were drilled Arougkout die water plant, and void spaces were found at three of the four locations. The void spaces are the result of settlement that occurred after the building was constructed in 1971. m U V 1999 giTT OF OROi\0 Due to the weight of the equipment and the mir imal reinforcing in the floor slab, the void space should be filled with sand / portland cement grout to provide adequate support. Without adequate support, the floor slab could break and drop which would result in equipment or piping breakage. Since the e.xtent of the work required cannot be accurately quantified at this Htn^, the w’ork will be completed on a unit price basis for labor and materials and on a cost plus basis for grout material. The grout may be muted on-site or delivered by a ready mix company, depending on the quantity required. The appro.xiroately quantity required will be determined after drilling injection pons in the floor slab.
