ORDINANCE NO. 1 I5 SECOND SERIES <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2.50 AND NO. 2.51, SUBDIVISION <br />1 AND 2, ADOPTED APRIL 1, 1984 AND AMENDED AS ORDINANCE NO 31, 2ND <br />SERIES ON MARCH 17, 1987 AND ENTITLED "BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />GENERALLY" AND "PLANNING COMMISSION" RESPECTIVELY. <br />The City Council of Orono ordains. <br />Ordinance No. 2.50 and No. 2.51, Subdivisions 1 and 2 adopted <br />April 1, 1984 and amended as Ordinance No. 31, 2nd Series on March <br />17, 1987 and entitled "Boards and Commissions Generally" and <br />"Planning Commission" respectively are repealed and the following <br />language adopted. <br />SEC. 2.50. BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS GENERALLY. All board and <br />Commission appointments authorized by ordinance shall be made by <br />the Council at the first regular meeting in Janua^ of each year <br />unless another appointment date is established elsewhere in <br />ordinance. The term of each appointee shall be established and <br />stated at the time of his appointment, and terms of present Board <br />and Commission members amy be re-established and changed so as to <br />dive effect to this Section. New appointees shall assume office <br />immediately. Provided, however, that all appointees to Boards and <br />Commissions shall hold office until their successor is appointed <br />and qualified. All vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as <br />for an expired term, but the appointment shall be only for the <br />unexpired term. No appointed Board or Commission member shall be <br />an employee of the City, but an ex officio member may be so <br />employed. All appointed Board and Commission members shall se^e <br />without renumeration, but may be reimbursed for out-of-pocket <br />exoenses incurred in the performance of their duties when such <br />expenses have been authorized by the Council before they were <br />incurred. In order to balance the need for consistency, with the <br />desire to provide ongoing opportunities new members; ^ ® <br />Council, in general, will reappoint commission members for <br />two additional 3 year terms beyond their initial 3 year term. Any <br />Board or Commission member may be removed by the Council for any <br />reason and his position filled as any other vacancy. Each Board <br />and Commission shall hold its regular meetings at a time <br />established and approved by the Council. Boards and Commissi <br />created by resolution shall terminate when the purpose for which <br />thev were created has been accomplished or upon the expiration of <br />thiir SnSs stated in the resolution. Except as othe^ise <br />provided, this Section shall apply to all Boards and Commissions. <br />SEC. 2.51. PLANNING COMMISSION. <br />Subd. 1. Establishment and Composition.
