PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR MARCH 15.1999 <br />Lindquist moved, Schroeder seconded, to approve the minutes of the March 15,1999 <br />Planning Commission meeting as submitted. VOTE: Ayes 4-0-2, Berg and Stoddard <br />Abstained. <br />17. REPORT OF PLANNING COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVES ATTENDING COUNCIL <br />MEETINGS ON MARCH 22,1999 AND APRIL 12,1999 <br />Smith Indicated she attended the March 22nd City Council meeting, but it was not reflected In the <br />minutes. <br />Lindquist stated he attended the April 12,1999 City Council meeting, and the application concerning <br />Big Island was tabled pending a new lot line rearrangement. <br />18. OTHER ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION <br />Hawn Inquired whether Gaffron thought the Planning Commission should attend the session entitled <br />Comprehensive Plan Review - Do You Know Everything You Need to Know. <br />Gaffron encouraged the members to attend if possible. <br />Gaffron stated with the staffing shortage being experienced at the present time he will not be able to <br />complete work on the City's comprehensive plan by the end of June as had been hoped. The City <br />has hired an interim who is expected to start work the beginning of May, which wilt provide some <br />relief until a second assistant zoning administrator is hired. <br />In response to Planning Commission queries as to how they might help with the Comprehensive <br />Plan, Gaffron remarked that it would be helpful if the Planning Commission members would <br />comment on issues they would like to see addressed or revised in the comprehensive plan. Moorse <br />is preparing a list of questions for discussion. Gaffron also suggested that a Planning Commission <br />subcommittee be formed to review this issue. Gaffron noted this would be the first major revision to <br />the City's comprehensive plan since 1980. <br />Schroeder inquired how this revision might affect Orono. <br />Gaffron commented that the City Council's view of this revision is to merely make a slight ten <br />Page 20 <br />' I
