§10.40 <br />SEC. 10.40. B-1 RETAIL SALES BUSINESS DISTRICT. <br />Subd. 1. Purpose. The "B-1" Retail Sales Business (District) is intended to provide a <br />district for businesses that supply commodities or perform a service primarily for residents in the <br />surrounding neighborhood. The district may adjoin residential districts or other business districts <br />which are subject to more restrictive controls. The district shall have immediate access to adequate <br />highways and public sanitary sewer. <br />Subd. 2. Application. All applications for a building permit in any "B-l" Retail Sales <br />Business District shall be reviewed by the Council and may be referred to the Planning Commission <br />for review. <br />Subd. 3. Permitted Uses. Within any "B-1" Retail Sales Business District, no structwe <br />or land shall be used except for one of the following uses or uses deemed similar by the Council: <br />A. Retail and Service Businesses. The following neighborhood retail sales and <br />service businesses supplying commodities or performing a service primarily for residents in the <br />surrounding neighborhood: <br />1. Arts and school supplies store. <br />2. Banks and insurance companies. <br />3. Barber and beauty shops. <br />4. Bicycle sales and repair. <br />5. Books, magazines, record shop. <br />6. Drugs, candy, ice cream, soft drinks, cosmetics and other usual drug store <br />merchandise. <br />7. Dry cleaning and laundry pick-up stations including incidental pressing and <br />repair. <br />8. Garden supplies, florist shop. <br />9. Gift or antique shops. <br />10. Hardware store, paint store. <br />11. Hobby shops, camera and photographic supply stores. <br />12. Jewelry shops and repair. <br />13. Laundromats. <br />14. Locksmith. <br />15. Music, radio, TV, appliance sales and repair stores. <br />16. Newsstands. <br />17. Office supply store, office machine store. <br />18. Pet shop. <br />19. Pipe and tobacco shops. <br />20.
