MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 23,2000 <br />.►.I <br />k <br />(#28 Long Lake Fire Station Replacement, Continued) <br />perhaps be prepared to look at other options. <br />Mayor Jabbour stated the City of Orono definitely needs to be a part of this process and needs to <br />stay informed of the issues relating to this matter. <br />Sansevere moved, Flint seconded, to appiove and adopt RESOLUTION NO. 4558, a <br />Resolution setting out the parameters of the City of Orono's involvement in the replacement <br />of the Long Lake Fire Station. <br />Mayorjabbour stated in his view the Uvo cities can arrive at a mutually agreeable solution if Orono <br />b invited to be a part of this process. <br />Flint concurred with Mayor Jabbour. <br />VOTE ON ABOVE MOTION: Ayes 3, Nays 0. <br />Mayor Jabbour noted that Council Members Kelley and Peterson were in support of this action at <br />the Council’s recent work session. <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Mayor Jabbour stated he has received a number of calls from residents complaining about <br />residences that are being built next to them that have not required any variances. Jabbour stated <br />he has been referring these calls to City Staff for their review. <br />Gappa stated there have been a number of modifications on some of these plans, with the residents <br />being told they need to keep within the City ’s ordinances. <br />Sansevere inquired whether the replacement of the police chief is on schedule. <br />Moorse stated the process is on schedule, with interviews scheduled for Tuesday, November 14, <br />and Thursday, November 16. <br />Flint inquired whether the City has heard anything from the MCWD as it relates to Stubbs Bay <br />and Ma.xwell Bay. <br />Moorse stated he has spoken with the executive d’-ector of the MCWD who indicated they have <br />$ 10,000 in their budget to cover the diagnostic portion of the water quality study. Moorse stated the <br />MCWD has indicated they would like to work with the City of Orono on this matter. <br />PUBLIC SERVICE DIRECTOR’S REPORT <br />(#17) OLD CRYSTAL BAY ROAD (ORONO SCHOOLS) TRAFFIC SOLUTION <br />Jabbour moved, Sansevere seconded, to table this item to the next City Council meeting. <br />VOTE: Ayes 3, Nays 0. <br />PAGE 12
