w <br />A RESOLUTION FOR THE COLLECTION OF <br />2000 HAZARDOUS TREE REMOVAL CHARGES <br />Whereas, the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota has enacted certain ordinances <br />under Minnesota Statutes, therefore pursuant to Chapter 9, Section 9.55, Orono City Code pertaining <br />to maintenance of private property; and <br />Whereas, Orono City Code Section 9.55 allows the City to order abatement of ordinance <br />violations and then to complete the abatement of violations if not completed by the property owner <br />and certify the costs of abatement as a special assessment; and <br />Whereas, the charges for abatement of ordinance violations in the attached assessment roll <br />are delinquent in nature; and <br />Whereas, the property owner of 1540 North Arm Drive has requested assessment of City <br />charges, for removal of a hazardous tree, over a three year time period because of financial hardship; <br />and <br />Whereas, the City has obtained from the Hennepin County Auditor, levy number 14996 for <br />this assessment; and <br />Whereas, the City hereby authorizes and directs the Hennepin County Auditor to levy the <br />assessment over a three year time period at an 8% interest rate. Such assessment shall be payable in <br />equal annual installments extending over a period of 3 years, the first of the installments to be <br />payable on or before the first Monday in January 2001 and shall bear interest at the rate of 8% per <br />annum from the date of the adoption of this assessment resolution. To the first installment shall be <br />added interest on the entire assessment from the date of this resolution until December 31, 2001. <br />To each subsequent installment when due shall be added interest for one year on all unpaid <br />installments. <br />Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota hereby <br />authorizes and direcii the County Auditor of Hennepin County to assess properties identified in the <br />attached assessment roll, made a part hereof, for the amounts appearing along with such properties, <br />plus eight percent (8%) interest added as directed. Said amounts to be collected along with property <br />tioces beginning in 2001. <br />Page 1 of 2
