The service <br />technician has indicated that the memory board needs to be replaced at a cost of approximately <br />$1,200. Since the fax machine was originally purchased in 1996 for approximately $2,000, it does <br />not seem reasonable to invest $1,200 in a machine that is almost five years old. <br />After researching several alternative fax machines, staff recommends purchasing the Xerox <br />Document WorkCentre Pro 657. The Pro 657 has features which are similar to the Lanier machine, <br />with the following enhancements: <br />•Modem speed of 33.6 Kbps as opposed to 14,4 Kbps. <br />•Fast scan at 2 seconds per page. <br />Print speed of 8 pages per minute. <br />Additional paper tray. <br />Option to connect to the City’s computer network for use as a printer. <br />The Xerox Document WorkCentre Pro 657 can be purchased through the State of Minnesota <br />Cooperative Purchasing Program at a cost of $2,007.53. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to approve the purchase of a Xerox Document WorkCentre Pro 657 facsimile machine <br />through the State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Program from Precision Business Systems, <br />Inc., for a total cost of $2,007.53, to be funded from the Improvement and Equipment Outlay Fund; <br />and to approve a budget adjustment to reflect the expenditure. <br />-ttma-M■mlM-*V
