Sll CITY of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. ________________ <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING EXTENSION OF THE DUE DATE <br />TO AUGUST 31,2000 FOR REVIEW OF THE <br />CITY OF ORONO COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR CONSISTENCY WITH <br />AMENDED METROPOLITAN COUNCIL POLICY PLANS <br />♦ <br />S <br />WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. §473.175-473.87' (1996) requires that cities re\ iew and revise <br />their comprehensive plans for consistency with Metropolitan Council policy plans; and <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has amended its policy plans; and has provided <br />system statements outlining Council policy relative to the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono was required to review its comprehensive plan for <br />consistency with the amended policy plans and to prepare a revised comprehensive plan for submission to <br />the Metropolitan Council by December 31, 1998; and <br />WHEREASjthe City Council has requested and received extensions of the December 1998 <br />due date from the Metropolitan Council to allow the City to complete its comprehensive plan; circulate the <br />revised document to the adjacent governmental units and affected school districts for review and comment; <br />and, following approval by the Planning Commission and after consideration by the City Council, submit <br />the Plan to the Metropolitan Council for review; and <br />WHEREAS, the most recent due date extension expires June 30, 2000; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has proceeded diligently to complete its comprehensive plan <br />for Metropolitan Council review; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono had anticipated at least a partial submittal of the plan by the <br />June 30, 2000 due date; however, an additional 60 days will be needed by the City in order to complete <br />preparation of the plan for submittal. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono requests that the <br />Metropolitan Council grant the City of Orono an extension to August 31,2000 to complete its comprehensive <br />plan; circulate the revised document to the adjacent governmental units and affected school districts for <br />review and comment; and, following approval by the Planning Commission and after consideration by the <br />City Council, submit the plan to the Metropolitan Council for review. <br />Adopted by the Cit>‘ Council of Orono, Minnesota this 10th day of July, 2000. <br />ATTEST: <br />Linda S.
