o <br />MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING HELD JULY 5, 1972 <br />Poisson stated the Village was preparing a <br />newsletter to be sent out soon and it would <br />make a perfect media to make people aware <br />of what has been done and what must be done. <br />Mr. Loucks stated the plan was to conduct <br />three public meetings in August and September <br />to get public participation in the plan. <br />Searles stated it would be advisable to wait <br />till firm dates for these meetings were <br />set and then publish them in the newsletter, <br />iir. Loucks explained how these meetings were <br />conducted in various Villages, ilis plan <br />consisted principally of each member submitting <br />25 names of citizens who were knowledgeable <br />in businessp land development, school <br />administration, teaching, and citizens who <br />were large landowners and presidents of <br />various organizations such as the Jaycee’s <br />and the Elks; also to be included were Park <br />Commission and Council members. Tais would <br />be tlie core of these meetings to lead the <br />discussion. The consensus of opinion was <br />tiiat these meetings should not bo held by <br />precincts or zones, but should be central <br />meetings. Eafch meeting would consist of <br />approximately two 20 minute speaking sessions <br />followed by discussion session. Mayor <br />Oberhauser and Councilman ilassengale entered <br />into the discussion as to what would make <br />tiie best type of speaker--the "adversary” <br />type or the ”pm § con” type. As for the <br />ensuing discussion, Mr. Loucks stated the <br />best method was to break the participating <br />citizens do\fn into groups and obtain as much <br />mix as possible and then randomly select <br />certain citizens to lead the discussion. <br />Discussion should tend, but necessarily <br />limited to the following: <br />1. Environment <br />2. Park and open space <br />3. Marshlands <br />4. Taxes <br />5. Growth philosophy <br />6. Transportation <br />7. Housing <br />8. Metro government <br />Since the hour was growing late, it was <br />decided to hold a special meeting on <br />Wednesday, July 12, 1972 at 7:30 P.iM. <br />Members studied the proposed division of <br />Kenneth Harter, 3120 North Shore Drive, <br />noting it was the same division as was applied <br />for last year.
