They did not deem it adequate <br />and asked that he submit a survey of the <br />property including the exact placement <br />of buildings. <br />LOT SIZE VARIANCE <br />3587 North Shore Drive <br />George Johnson showed a plat of Partenwood, <br />now ready for final approval. He shov/ed <br />there were a few changes from the preliminary <br />plat, for the expressed purpose of moving <br />lines to preserve trees and the ecology of <br />the area. He stated the street serving the <br />subdivision was progressing rapidly and <br />siiould be done suortly. On the evidence <br />submitted, <br />FINAL APPROVAL <br />Partenwood <br />Searles moved, Rverse seconded, that final <br />approval should be recommend’d. Motion, <br />Ayes (8) - Nays (0). <br />Tom Loucks of Brauer 8 Associates, opened <br />the meeting to discussion on Phase I of the <br />Comprehensive Plan. Discussion opened on the <br />population projection. Mr. Loucks stated <br />that there have been various population <br />projections for Orono with a great variation <br />in estimates among planners. He thought as <br />the plan progressed there would be more <br />accurate population projections. Van Nest <br />took exception to the Marshlands and Hydrology <br />report. He deemed tlie report more of an <br />opinion by the author rather than being <br />factual. Searles was of the opinion there <br />should be a separate paper on ecology alone.*. <br />PHASE I REPORT <br />fi <br />Mr. Loucks stated the purpose of this first <br />report was to set the tone of the report in <br />its entirety. He also stated that thHe also stated that <br />m <br />ere has <br />been much researcii in the area of hydrology and <br />ecology resulting in many theories but they <br />would h <br />resulting in many theories but they <br />ave to hold fast for concrete developments, <br />In the matter of land usage, he said experience <br />proved that the best way to get food input into <br />a plan was to get the citizens themselves <br />interested, and while it was easy to get any <br />given citizen interested if he were personally <br />involved, to get involvement in an overall <br />plan for the Village was more complicated. <br />He said there would iiave to be more articles <br />in the news media setting forth that it is <br />of vital interest for everybody to be involved. <br />Members stated that while they did not concur <br />“■ ■ ■ ‘ theon all things, they thought the report on the <br />whole was good and so thanked him.
