VILLAGE OF ORONO <br />Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission <br />liay 15, 1972 * <br />The Planning Commission net on the above <br />date with the following members present: <br />Chairman pro tern Herfurth, Elliott, Gasch. <br />Hays, and Ryerse. Absent: Caairman <br />Poisson, Kullberg, Nic.iolls, Searles, South- <br />worth, and Van Nest* Also present; ?*ayor <br />Oberhauser, CounciImen Masse*'.gale and <br />IlcCart.iy, <br />Ryerse moved Elliott seconded, that the <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting of ??ay 1, <br />1972, be approved. Motion, Ayes fS) - Nays (0). .717 <br />Douglas Dayton and Dennis Tirsler from <br />Brauer 5 Associates presented engineering <br />data in an application to dredge in order to <br />pond water on the Dayton premises at <br />300 Sixtii Avenue North. <br />Gascn questioned tne propriety of using <br />Brauer Associates when the Village has <br />a contract with this firm which states <br />there shall be no conflict of interest <br />during the period under the contract. <br />Mr. Dayton stated he had tne firm under <br />contract since July 1971. ifr. Trisler <br />pointed out tne Village contract began <br />February 1972. Discussion then followed <br />whether the application v/as for a variance <br />or conditional use permit. The building <br />inspector stated the application was for <br />a conditional use permit under Sec. 31.700 <br />and the $30 fee for same has been paid. <br />Mr. Dayton stated the land in question had <br />once been a swamp and been filled in the <br />past and now was a pasture and that they <br />now wished to create new ponding areas <br />where the old ones had been. He showed <br />plans for maintaining water levels and for <br />the prevention of siltation into Mooney <br />Lake. <br />Hays moved taat a public hearing be held <br />and the the Commission should have a <br />report from tiie Minnehaha Creek Watershed <br />District before making a recommendation, <br />‘lotion died for lack of a second. <br />Menbers asked Massengale for an opinion, <br />ile stated tne Village Council was looking <br />for some factual information from members <br />as to whetner the project was in the <br />interest of the public. <br />(Continued) <br />7:30 P. f. <br />MINUTES <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br />Ordinance NO. 125 <br />Dayton <br />il
