MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Tuesday, February 19, 2002 <br />6:30 o’clock p.m. <br />GalTron stated the issues for considcfation b> the Planning Commission include whether an\ other <br />conditions are necessary other than those proposed by Staff in order to allow the 35’ tower, whether the <br />hardships stated in Stall's report support the granting of the setback variance, and whether there are anv <br />signifieant impacts of the 40 setback th.it should be mitigated by attaching specific conditions to the <br />variance approval In addition, the Planning Commission should consider whether there are any issues <br />regarding the proposed plat of the two lots <br />Mabusth stated it was her understanding the lire station was to have three acres <br />Jabbour stated it is a three-acre lot Jabbour stated there should not be a problem with the setback since <br />the road is 60’ wide instead of the standard .s()’ <br />I lawn noted if tlic sixtii bay is not constructed, the setback variance would not be required I lawn <br />inquired whether there were any public comments relating to this application <br />Bob Miller. 270 Willow Drive, distributed photographs of the area Miller indicated he is not in favor <br />of the design of the fire station Miller indicated he has v isitcd a number of fire stations, noting they <br />have not been constructed with more than five bays <br />.Miller stated the three and a half acres to the north will need to be addressed by Mn DOT. and suggested <br />a road to tlie north be Cvnistrueted <br />Miller stated in his view a hose tower is not needed <br />Rah.i inquired whether Miller would prefer the height of the tower h * limited to .^()‘ <br />Miller stated yes <br />.Mabusth noted the wetland mitigation would require repl.icement of the same type of wetland <br />Jim Dillman, 22.3 Willow Drive, questioned why the City ofOrono would get wetland credit <br />Cafiron stated that issue has not yet been discussed bv the watershed district <br />pa(;k 21
