• • <r ^
TO I
FROM;
Jeanne Mabusth, Zoning Administrator
o os:oo
Michael P. Gaffron, Septic System Inspector
DATE;
SUBJECT:
July 12, 1979
Existing septic systems 860 & 900 Spring Hill Road
#488 Subdivision - Mary C. Staples
860 Spring Hill Road - Main House - system consists of at least
one septic tank and an amount of dralnfield. While the system
probably does not meet current standards, it appears to be
functioning adequately and no surface discharge was found.
Adequate soils exist on the site for additional dralnfield,
but the topography may make future repairs costly.
900 Spring Hill Road - Caretaker/Rental House - septic system
consists of a tank and dralnfield both of which are in a low
area of Hamel soils. While no discharge was observed, the
system appears to be in poor soils and would be expected to
fail if usage was heavy. I would suggest that if the Spring
Hill Center wishes to renovate this house a new septic system
be installed to comply with Orono codes. Again, adequate soils
exist on the lot for a suitable dralnfield but due to topography
a pump would likely be required.
