r:=r\ /;!=;? <br />% <br />AMI DhL riANNINC; <br />3 PLANNING COMMISSION <br />• Petition for rezoning referred to planning <br />commission. <br />• Schedule date for public hearing. <br />• Notice of the time, place, and purpose of <br />public heating given by publication in news <br />paper of general circulation at least ten days <br />before hearing (Form 5). <br />• Notification of adjacent property owners <br />(Form 6). <br />• Notification of other agencies (Form 7). <br />• View the area being considered in the field <br />with zoning administrator. <br />• Arrange to have maps and other exhibits at <br />the public hearing. <br />4 PLANNING COMMISSION Public Hearing <br />'^'‘COMNHSSION <br />The meeting should be opened precisely at the <br />time advertised in the notice. <br />The presiding officer should conduct the meet <br />ing and exercise all authority in order to keep the <br />meeting running smoothly and to the point. <br />An accurate record of the testimony is essential. <br />The secretary will summarize accurately the testi <br />mony presented and have a record of the names and <br />addresses of all persons who participated in the <br />meeting. <br />The presiding officer should present an opening <br />statement explaining the purpose of the meeting and <br />make general guide rules for the conduct of the <br />meeting. A suggested statement might be: <br />The public hearing, in accordance with the <br />official notice, is now in session. In order to <br />conduct the hearing within reasonable time and <br />to keep it on the subject at hand, you are asked <br />to observe the following rules: <br />• Any person with legitimate interest may pre <br />sent his or her views to the commissiort. <br />• Those who favor the proposed change will be <br />heard first, and those opposed will be heard <br />last. <br />• Each person making a statement will be asked <br />to give his or her name and address. <br />• Please refrain from repeating what has been <br />said before you, and please do not involve <br />personalities. <br />• Be as factual as possible. <br />• The commission reserves the right to question <br />any speaker. <br />• All statements or questions must be directed <br />to the chair. <br />*-*l <br />iii <br />I. • I <br />iil <br />•. . <br />I <br />I I <br />■■
