Vftiite showing a division of Tract into
two parts and a "proposed house zone" and a "request variance from 50* rear
setback". The Trustees oppose the requested variance and ask that it be not
granted.
This subdivision by Robert White would be the first subdivision
of the entire wooded area which, in part, is included in Tract A, RLS 1098
and, in part, land owned by Wbodhill northwest, northerly and easterly of
Tract A, exclusive of the golf course. By granting a variance for the first
sxibdivisian, a precedent is set for variance. This, the Trustees feel, is
poor planning for the best \ise of prime land in Orono.
Wbodhill has no present plans for the subdivision of its Orono
property vdiich is not now used for golf course and other club facilities.
There has beai considerable thought given to that subject and we believe
that there will be more in the years to come. Woodhill wishes to reassuore
the Orono City Council and Planning Conndsslon that, if Wbodhill does ever
undertake such residential development, planning will be consistent with
Orono's then existing ordinances and building codes and not based upon
variances.
Sincerely,
President
I
